We (almost) share similar opinions about this matter. Especially on the baseline Macs.

That said, I'm not sure about the longevity of Macs with 16GB of RAM. Sure, the average user might not feel discomfort with the 16GB model, but in a year or two, their SSD will wear and tear more than they'd notice and eventually die.

In my experience, unlike mechanical drives, when SSDs fail, the data is gone for good.

For the average user who might not use cloud solutions, that can be catastrophic.
