As a designer I have always looked for the new changes in mobile operating systems. Android has come a long way since its early days looking unappealing. I always admired iOS for it design being so humane.
I read your story and it is really interesting to me. If you like to learn more about why some companies innovate while others struggle and just copy I suggest watching this talk by Simon Sinek:
I also recommed taking a look at Apple Human Interface Design and observe the thinking behind what they do.
There is this video by AJ&Smart, a design agency and they are very active on YouTube talking about design and sprints. In their video titled "Why UX Designers Should Respect Apple" Jonathan explains what it takes for big compoanies to implement features.
I think it will be immensily helpful for your story on Medium.
Thank you for writing this story. It resonates with my beliefs as a designer seeing how large companies copy from one another.
I'm thinking of writing an article about this subject on my Medium blog. I'll be happy to hear what you think about Samsung in terms of UX design.
